The Crosho Fire in South Routt County was 16% contained as of Tuesday morning, according to a news release from the Wyoming Type 3 Incident Management Team.

Threatened structures decreased from 240 to 67 between Monday and Tuesday as crews made progress on containment and structure protection. No structures have been damaged or destroyed by the fire.

Hot and dry weather conditions will continue through the end of the week, potentially causing high fire activity. However, fire activity remains low across the fire’s footprint as of Tuesday.

Unburned fuels within the fire’s perimeter continue to catch fire, producing heat and smoke.

Nearly 400 firefighting personnel were on the scene Tuesday morning, including two engines, three water tenders, three aircraft, three dozers and 13 hand crews.

“Crews are mopping up and strengthening lines from Crosho Lake east along (Routt) County Road 15,” states the release. “To the east and north, hand crews are engaging the fire’s edge, while connecting remaining hand and dozer lines. On the west side, firefighters are reinforcing lines with hose lays while removing hazard trees along the perimeter. Engines are patrolling the fire throughout the day and night.”
