Steamboat Conversations: COVID-19 Vaccine, Part 1

The first in a three-part virtual town hall series covering all the latest information on the upcoming COVID-19 vaccination program, held by the Steamboat Pilot & Today in collaboration with Routt County, the city of Steamboat Springs and UCHealth Yampa Valley Medical Center.On Dec. 4, the focus will be on how vaccines are made, tested and approved. The Dec. 11 panel will discuss the first vaccines and their efficacy and safety. And on Dec. 18, the conversation will shift to Routt County’s plan for immunization.Panelists include Dr. Ronald Krall, former chief medical officer of GlaxoSmithKline; Routt County Chief Medical Officer Dr. Brian Harrington; Routt County Public Health Director Roberta Smith; and Dr. Laura Sehnert, Yampa Valley Medical Center chief medical officer. The Dec. 11 panel includes Dr. Thomas Campbell, a virologist and infectious disease specialist at the UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital. Pilot & Today Editor Lisa Schlichtman will serve as moderator.

A surge in the number of local COVID-19 cases, along with moving backward on the state’s Safer at Home plan, will be the subject of the next Steamboat Conversations live virtual town hall panel. Panelists include Roberta Smith, Routt County Public Health director; Scott Cowman, Routt County director of environmental health; Dr. Brian Harrington, Routt County Public Health chief medical officer; and Tim Corrigan, Routt County commissioner. Lisa Schlichtman, editor of the Steamboat Pilot & Today, will serve as moderator.

A number of local governments, schools and nonprofit organizations are implementing efforts to improve diversity, equity and inclusivity in their workplaces and that will be the subject of the next Steamboat Conversations live virtual town hall. Panelists include Gary Suiter, city manager for the city of Steamboat Springs; Renzo Walton, immigration specialist at Integrated Community; Jay Hamric, director of learning, Steamboat Springs School District; Anne-Marie Williams, Title IV coordinator for the Steamboat Springs School District; and Kate Nowak, executive director of Routt County United Way. Lisa Schlichtman, editor of the Steamboat Pilot & Today, will serve as moderator.
