Steamboat Springs superintendent announces retirement
Steamboat Springs School District Superintendent Celine Wicks announced that this current school year will be her last.
In a letter posted on the school’s website on Friday, Wicks announced her upcoming retirement and thanked the community, students, families, teachers and staff.
“Your involvement, encouragement, and belief in our schools have made my work here incredibly meaningful,” wrote Wicks. “I will leave at the end of the academic year knowing that Steamboat Springs School District is in the hands of talented, dedicated educators and staff.”
Wicks noted that she will engage with the school board staff and community to ensure a smooth transition.
She listed her accomplishments as creating an administrative unit, transforming school culture and climate, achieving top nine percent district ranking and addressing affordable housing for staff.
Her final day will be June 30, 2026.
