Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue to hold pinning ceremony Monday night
Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue will hold a public pinning ceremony Monday, March 30 at 5 p.m. at Centennial Hall (124 10th St.) to celebrate its newest firefighters and formally welcome a new deputy chief, according to a statement released on Thursday.
Firefighters Doug Bloom and Nate Birdseye will take their oaths and receive their badges during the ceremony. The event also recognizes Deputy Chief Ian Satterfield, who joined the department last summer.
The badge pinning marks the end of an intensive six-month academy and the transition from probationary status to official firefighter. Participants will also receive new helmets, a tradition symbolizing their new place within the department.
“Receiving your badge is something every firefighter remembers for the rest of their career,” said Fire Chief Chuck Cerasoli in the statement. “It represents months of hard work, sacrifice, and the beginning of a lifelong commitment to serving others.”
“We’re proud of Doug (Bloom) and Nate (Birdseye) and confident they will uphold the values and traditions of this department,” he added.
