The Colorado High School Activities Association announced official playoff seeding for lacrosse and soccer Sunday, selecting three Steamboat Springs teams to host playoff games this week.
At 9-6 this season, Steamboat boys lacrosse earned the No. 9 seed in the Class 4A tournament thanks to a strong showing in the Rating Percentage Index or RPI. The Sailors will host No. 24 Conifer at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Gardner Field.
The visiting Lobos held a 5-10 regular-season record, giving up 56 more goals than they scored.
Steamboat Springs and Conifer have faced two common opponents this season, both teams losing to Golden and Evergreen. The winner of Tuesday night’s game will take on No. 8 Grand Junction in Grand Junction on Friday.
Last season, boys lacrosse took its No. 3 seed to the state quarterfinal (Round 3) where the team fell victim to the No. 6 Air Academy Kadets.
The Steamboat Springs girls soccer team closed the season with an 8-6-1 record, good for a No. 16 seeding in the Class 3A tournament.
The girls have been offensive stalwarts this season, scoring more than three goals per game while giving up 1.6 goals per game.
Steamboat will host the 17th-seeded Englewood Pirates at 4 p.m. Thursday at Gardner Field. The Pirates closed the regular season with a 10-2-2 record. The Sailors and Pirates had no common opponents this season.
Last year, the girls soccer team made the playoff as the No. 30 seed, dropping its first-round game to No. 3 Windsor.

The Steamboat Springs girls lacrosse team earned the No. 6 seed in the Class 4A playoffs following a dominant 10-4 regular season. The girls earned a first-round bye and in Round 2 will take on the winner of No. 11 Dakota Ridge vs. No. 22 Eaglecrest.
Steamboat Springs registered a five-game win streak and a four-game win streak this season. The girls are averaging 12.4 goals per game, giving up just 7.8 goals per game.
The Sailors will play their game at 6 p.m. Thursday at Gardner Field. The winner of Thursday’s game will play again Saturday.
A year ago the girls lacrosse team took its No. 15 seed to the second round where it fell to No. 2 Evergreen. The team hopes to reach the quarterfinal this season, which would mark the deepest playoff run in program history.
Admission to all three games is complimentary, though donations will be accepted to help the school offset costs of hosting the playoff games.
