Mild temperatures on Thanksgiving may be followed by winter storm

Temperatures in Steamboat Springs neared 40 degrees late Sunday morning while the ski resort summit remained at freezing, according to local meteorologist Mike Weissbluth’s twice-weekly forecast

This mild weather is expected to continue through Monday, followed by a cold front passing through Monday night, wrote Weissbluth, bringing cooler temperatures and the chance of minimal snow accumulation for Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Thanksgiving holiday and Black Friday should see a warming trend, with highs returning to the mid-to-upper 40s, he added.

Travel over Rabbit Ears Pass should be clear at the start of Thanksgiving, but conditions may worsen after Friday, as a “promising storm” is projected over the course of the weekend, wrote Weissbluth. Precipitation chances and the location of the storm remain unknown.
