A Colorado State Patrol member whose first duty station was in Steamboat Springs was arrested by the Colorado Springs Police Department for alleged sexual exploitation of a child, according to a Colorado State Patrol news release.

Luke Zellman was arrested Wednesday and charged with one count of sexual exploitation of a child and booked into the El Paso County Jail.

According to the news release, Zellman joined the Colorado State Patrol in March 2014 in Steamboat Springs. Three years later, he was transferred to the Colorado Springs Troop Office.

Zellman was placed on administrative leave following his arrest, the statement adds.

“The Colorado State Patrol and its members are committed to ensuring the safety of all persons and to adhering to our core values of honor, duty and respect,” states the release. “We take these standards seriously and recognize that the success of our mission depends upon maintaining the trust and the safety of the public we serve. We respect and defer to the Colorado Springs Police Department and the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office regarding the ongoing investigation.”

Anyone with additional information about the case is urged to contact the Colorado Springs Police Department at 719-444-7000.
