The annual opportunity for local drivers to test drive and ask questions in one hometown location about a variety of electric vehicles ranging from pickups to SUVs is set for 10 a.m.-3 p.m. June 8.

Reservations are open for the free EV Ride & Drive event. Participants can sign up for 15-minute test drives for a variety of electrically fueled vehicles such as the Ford F-150 Lightning and Mach E, Tesla Model 3 and Model Y, Kia EV 9, and Chevy Blazer, Bolt and Silverado. Test-drive reservations go fast and are available online at YVSC.org/event/ev-ride-drive-3.

The Ride & Drive event will take place in the parking lot near the EV charging stations at Howelsen Rodeo Grounds at 401 Howelsen Parkway in Steamboat Springs.

Before the test drives, the educational event will include an EV 101 Workshop from 9-10 a.m. at the Routt County Community Room at Sixth and Oak streets in downtown Steamboat where electric vehicle experts from Carbondale-based nonprofit Clean Energy Economy for the Region, or CLEER, will share information and answer questions.

At the drive event, staff members from nonprofit Yampa Valley Sustainability Council and community member EV Ambassador volunteers who drive electric vehicles will be available to answer questions about their driving experiences, EV technology and rebate opportunities.

The community event is hosted by the sustainability council, city of Steamboat Springs, CLEER and Yampa Valley Electric Association.
