City of Steamboat Springs updates water and wastewater specifications
The city of Steamboat Springs has released an updated set of Water and Wastewater Standard Specifications that will guide all future projects within the city’s utility service area starting March 15, according to a statement released Thursday.
According to Utility Division Distribution and Collection Manager Michelle Carr, the revisions align local standards with current industry practices and reflect community input gathered during the update process.
The new standards outline minimum design and construction requirements for water distribution and wastewater collection facilities. They do not apply to properties served by the Mount Werner Water and Sanitation District.
Projects with active utility or building permits issued prior to Jan. 1, 2026, or permit applications filed before Jan. 1, 2026, will continue to follow the previous specifications, though some cases may be reviewed individually during the transition.
“As you plan any water- or sewer-related work within the city’s utility district, we encourage you to review the new specifications early in your process,” said Carr in the statement. “Our team is always available to answer questions and help ensure projects move forward without surprises.”
