This winter’s Snowday Seminars educational series, presented by nonprofit Yampatika, wraps up next week with a Community Science 101 program set for 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 12, at the Hayden Library Community Room.
Routt County-based Wildlife Biologist Jeremiah Psiropoulos, owner of Colorado Grouse Tours, will present the program for community members ages 10 and older. Yampatika staff and Psiropoulos will talk about how residents can contribute to data collection and get more involved in community science efforts such as eBird and iNaturalist.
Routt County is a prime location for viewing several grouse species including Columbian sharp-tailed grouse, greater sage grouse and dusky grouse, often seen in the spring particularly around Hayden and in the Routt National Forest.
The program cost is $20. and preregistration is requested by 4 p.m. Thursday online via Yampatika.org/activities.
Snacks and drinks will be provided. For questions, email hailey@yampatika.org or call Yampatika at 970-871-9151.
