Two nonprofit groups, United Way of the Yampa Valley and Steamboat Springs Youth Hockey Association, are teaming up to host a “Pass the Puck, Share the Love” collection of donated $25 food gift cards to help families in need put meals on their tables this winter.

Community members can donate $25 gift cards from City Market or Safeway and drop them off by Dec. 9 at the United Way office at 443 Oak St. in downtown Steamboat Springs. Youth hockey members also will be accepting donations directly from 9:30 a.m-3:30 p.m. most Saturdays through Dec. 6 at the two local grocery stores.

The goal of this year’s drive is $25,000 in gift cards collected by hockey youth to add to the United Way annual drive. All donations stay in the Yampa Valley to support neighbors nominated by schools and nonprofit organizations. For questions, contact Erin Walker at rccommunity@unitedwayyv.org.
