Yampatika hosts ‘Stories of a Changing Snowpack’ fundraiser Nov. 13

Nonprofit Yampatika will host “Stories of a Changing Snowpack” for an evening of science education, films, conversation and refreshments at 6-8:30 p.m. Nov. 13 at Steamboat Social Club at 1103 Lincoln Ave. in downtown Steamboat.

Participants can explore how changing snowfall patterns are shaping Northwest Colorado’s climate, water and recreation future. The films and discussion will explore snow science, changing snowpack trends, water supply impacts and the future of winter recreation across Northwest Colorado.

The evening will include two short films, “Snow Guardian” by Days Edge Productions and “On Thin Snow” by Jonah Steinburg followed by an expert panel discussion and a participant question-and-answer session. Panelists will include: Dr. Gannet Hallar, professor of atmospheric science and director of Storm Peak Laboratory; Dan Gilchrist, atmospheric scientist at Storm Peak Laboratory; and Kate Burchenal, lead project manager at Airborne Snow Observatories.



Admission to the fundraiser benefiting Yampatika programming is $60 and will include food and drinks. The doors open at 5 p.m. For tickets: Yampatika.org/events.
