U.S. 40 reopened to alternating traffic west of Steamboat Wednesday afternoon

UPDATE: As of 3:26 p.m., U.S. Highway 40 was reopened to alternating traffic.

U.S. Highway 40 was closed in both directions between Routt County Road 179 and Routt County Road 44 — six miles west of Steamboat Springs — just after 3 p.m. Wednesday, according to COTrip.com.

The crash involved a semi-truck and one other vehicle, according to emergency radio communications. As of around 3:15 p.m., the driver of the vehicle was being transported to the hospital.
