The 31st Annual Festival of Trees will be on display through late November at Tread of Pioneers Museum, 800 Oak St. in Steamboat Springs.
The Festival is the museum’s primary fundraising event and proceeds support museum preservation and educational activities, according to the museum. The family-focused, pre-holiday tradition transforms the museum into a sparkling forest of holiday trees uniquely decorated by multiple area groups.
“We thank the decorators and local business sponsors who make this event possible,” the website adds. “Nearly 50 groups, organizations, schools, businesses, and the museum’s volunteer corps come together to make this a true community event.”
The event kicked off Friday and will be available for public viewing through Saturday, Nov. 29, though only during regular business hours for the museum.
A special Pioneer Christmas Storytime for Kids takes place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15. Kids will hear about local pioneer and Victorian holiday traditions and stories from museum staff in period costume.
The museum gift shop will also offer holiday shopping with locally-made products, historical photographs, books and toys.
The display will be open from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and will be closed Thanksgiving Day, as well as Sundays and Mondays.
Attendance is free for Routt County residents, with regular admission prices for out-of-towners.
