Traffic holds expected Thursday on I-70 at Vail Pass as helicopter assists with construction

Pam Boyd/Vail Daily
Traffic holds will be required on Thursday on Vail Pass for helicopter operations assisting with a road construction project.
The intermittent traffic holds will occur between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. as the helicopter delivers avalanche and rockfall fence materials to the West Vail Pass Auxiliary Lanes Project, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
The helicopter operations and traffic holds are weather-dependent and subject to change.
To receive text updates on the West Vail Pass Auxiliary Lanes Project, drivers can text “vailpass” to 21000.
