Super powers: Tenacity is the word to best describe Hans Geier. He was president of Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. from 1981 to 1990 and was inducted into the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame in 2013. Overcoming multiple surgeries throughout his life, a few with life-threatening complications, Hans remains active to this day and still enjoys skiing, biking and hiking. At age 69, he was climbing in the Himalayas and summited Mount Mera at 21,500 feet and was planning on two more summits when his group was forced down by a snowstorm. He was the only member of his group to walk out without assistance. This year, he had two knee replacements and will celebrate that accomplishment by hiking his beloved Dolomites one more time. To train, he is hiking his favorite Routt County trails and doing 160 lunges and 60 squats a day. His motto is “fight old age.”
