The Steamboat Tennis and Pickleball Center has been selected by the United States Tennis Association to receive $200,000 in Tennis Venue Services Funding, according to a news release from the center.

The funds will be used to supplement the Courting Love campaign efforts to replace the exterior membrane, insulation and lighting as well as enhance the facility’s six indoor tennis courts.

The grant came only one week after the tennis center was recognized as one of 45 winners of the annual Outstanding Facility Awards program. The program honors excellence in the construction and renovation of tennis facilities across the country.

“The award means that we are doing an exemplary job of growing the sport of tennis to inspire healthier people and elevate our Steamboat community,” said Meg Tully, the Steamboat Tennis and Pickleball Center’s executive director, after the center received the Outstanding Facility Award.

Supported entirely by local fundraising and community involvement, the recognition came during a major renovation. As Phase 1 of the project continues, the tennis center continues to look to Phase 2, which will involve repainting the indoor courts, upgrading the bathrooms, revamping the welcome center and potentially replacing the HVAC system.
