Steamboat Springs School District earns state’s highest accreditation
The Steamboat Springs School District has earned an “Accredited with Distinction” rating from the Colorado Department of Education, the highest designation a district can receive, according to a statement released Wednesday.
The recognition marks an improvement from last year’s “Accredited” status and places Steamboat among only 17 districts statewide, or the top 9% in Colorado.
Districts earning the honor must score 74% or higher on the state performance framework. Steamboat scored 75.3%, driven by strong performance in academics and readiness measures.
District performance highlights include high marks in academic achievement, student growth and postsecondary readiness, with the middle school scoring especially strong.
“Moving from Accredited to Accredited with Distinction is a significant achievement for our district,” said Superintendent Celine Wicks in the statement. “It is a true testament to the perseverance and resilience of our students and staff. After being accredited last year, we are proud to see our school community’s focus on growth and excellence recognized at the state level.”
