Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp. has hired Aaron Shaffer as its new director of facilities and construction, effective Sept. 22, according to a statement released Monday.
Shaffer will be responsible for supervising the planning, development and construction of Ski Corp. projects, including managing project budgets, ensuring compliance with regulations and supporting the facilities team in workload prioritization.
“With his strong background in facilities management, Aaron is a great addition to our team,” said Gavin Malia, Ski Corp. vice president of engineering, maintenance and facilities, in the statement. “We look forward to the impact he will have on the resort, especially as any future capital projects come to fruition.”
Shaffer, who holds a master’s degree in sports administration from Marshall University, has previously worked at the University of Northern Colorado as coordinator of facilities and operations.
In his most recent role, Shaffer worked as the facilities manager at cycling company The Pro’s Closet, where he led safety initiatives, guided project design and spearheaded a recycling program that diverted 90% of 122 tons of waste from landfills.
In his free time, Shaffer enjoys skiing, hiking, mountain biking and camping.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to help make the already great facilities at the resort even better,” said Shaffer in the statement. “As a guest each winter, I was always impressed with the cleanliness and upkeep of the on-mountain facilities, and I’m looking forward to being part of the team that delivers such an excellent experience.”
