— The Steamboat Ski Area announced Thursday it would create a members club of its own, the Steamboat Base Club, beginning in mid-December in the former St. Cloud Mountain Club in Torian Plum Plaza.

The club, just steps from the snow edge along the heated base area promenade, should be nearly turn-key. It was remodeled in 2007 and 2008 by the developers of a planned luxury condominium complex that was never built, as a way to engage prospective buyers. The original club featured wooden lockers for members, a dark wood bar, a fireplace and small dining tables.

The Steamboat Base Club will not have any connection to the former owners, ski area spokeswoman Loryn Kasten wrote in a news release.

The club will offer seasonal memberships beginning at $1,500 as well as daily rates beginning at $99 dollars for a single. It also will be open to the public daily from 3 to 8 p.m. for après ski with a full-service bar and food, according to Kasten.

Chris Diamond, president and chief operating officer of the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp., said in the news release that the opening of the new club was an opportunity to offer another level of personal service to the ski area’s guests.

“The Steamboat Base Club is ideal for individuals and families that want a unique experiential offering with exceptional guest service,” Diamond said. “With multi-day as well as seasonal memberships, the club will cater to destination and local guests alike.”

Membership options include daily, weekly and seasonal memberships in single, couple and family categories. Seasonal member pricing at the new club will run $1,500 for an individual, $2,000 for a couple and $3,000 for a family (up to four members). Daily membership will run $99 for singles, $149 for couples and $199 for a family (up to four members). For seasonal memberships purchased before Dec. 15, a $250 resort credit is included. Rates do not include lift tickets or season passes.

The club will operate daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., providing ski valet services, on-site concierge, valet parking, free Wi-Fi and business center, continental breakfast with daily prix-fixe entrees, priority reservations at Hazie’s and Ragnar’s, and resort charge privileges.
