Steamboat Resort is set to open 8:30 a.m. Saturday, despite a lack of snowfall in the area, according to a Wednesday news release from the resort.

“Our teams have been working hard to prepare the resort to open,” the release states. “Thanks to the game-changing investment in snowmaking with the Full Steam Ahead project, we are excited to bring guests to the top of Sunshine via Wild Blue to enjoy skiing and riding.”

Opening day will kick off at 7:30 a.m. with mimosas, fresh coffee and doughnuts in Steamboat Square. The first 100 guests will receive an opening day shirt designed by Ohana, a local business, and a pair of Smartwool socks.

Upper High Noon will be open to guests on opening day, accessible via Wild Blue Gondola and Sunshine Express lift. Anyone participating in SnowSports school will have a dedicated beginner learning area at the top of Wild Blue Gondola.

Starting at 7 a.m., The Range will be open for coffee and grab-and-go food. Timber and Torch will open for lunch at 11 a.m., and Rendezvous Lodge — including the Umbrella Bar — will open at 10 a.m. for food and drinks.

Young skiers marvel at the falling confetti in the base area of Steamboat Resort on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024, as the first chair of ski season began ascending Mount Werner. Steamboat Resort opened 10 trails for its 2024 Opening Day, all accessible from Christie Peak Express lift.

From 1-4 p.m, Pickin’ On The Dead will perform on the Steamboat Stage.

“The forecast is changing in our favor, with colder temperatures and natural snow on the way,” continues the resort’s release. “We will continue to work with Mother Nature to open more terrain as conditions allow. Please respect all signage and closures for your safety.”
