The Steamboat Pilot & Today is pleased to announce the hiring of Elainna Hemming.
Hemming, a 2024 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School, attends the University of Southern California and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She will be interning with the newspaper this summer.
Hemming’s experience includes being a staff writer for the MASH Magazine at USC, a publication that focuses on the intersection of business and fashion, where she writes full feature-length articles and pitches ideas to the editorial staff.
Hemming’s previous experience also includes writing for Steamboat Magazine as an intern in the summer of 2024. While at Steamboat Magazine, she contributed to story assignments, conducted interviews and worked on social media projects.
As a Steamboat Springs native, Hemming has been involved with local businesses and organizations and is excited to continue her path towards a career in journalism through the Steamboat Pilot & Today.
“Our staff is very excited to work with Elainna this summer and to see her work on the pages of our paper,” said Steamboat Pilot & Today Editor Trevor Ballantyne. “It is already clear that she is a dedicated, diligent and professional reporter and we are more than happy to support her career.”
