The nonprofit Routt County Wildfire Mitigation Council will host its second annual “Smoke in the Air!” fundraiser pickleball tournament on Saturday at Steamboat Tennis & Pickleball center.
The friendly event is designed for all ages and skill levels. Check-in starts at 12:30 p.m., and game play starts promptly at 1 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Adult participants can engage in a beginners’ clinic to learn the sport in a welcoming and supportive environment, competitive play and a Skills Court with challenges to measure pickleball talents.
Food and drinks will be available, and costumes are encouraged. The entry fee is a $100 donation. Every registered player will be entered into a random drawing for a family annual membership at Old Town Hot Springs.
“We wanted to create a fundraiser that reflects the spirit of Routt County – fun, active and community driven,” said Josh Hankes, council executive director.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the council and its mission to create resilient, fire-adapted communities so that the potential impacts of wildfire are minimized.
More information and registration are available at Routtwildfire.org/events.
