Skier dies from collision with tree at Aspen Highlands

At 11:26 a.m. Saturday, a 22-year-old female skier died after colliding with a tree on the Exhibition run at Aspen Highlands.

According to an Aspen Skiing Company news release, ski patrol received a call and responded immediately. The woman was unconscious and nonresponsive, and advanced lifesaving measures were initiated by ski patrol. They were in contact with the ER doctor at Aspen Valley Hospital, and at 12:02 p.m., the woman was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The woman’s name has been withheld due to notification of first of kin.



“We are deeply saddened by this tragic accident, and our thoughts are with her family and friends at this time,” said Jeff Hanle, vice president of communications for SkiCo, in the release.
