Routt County Colorado State University (CSU) Extension will host a four week Dining with Diabetes class starting on August 19. This series will include weekly cooking demonstrations and lessons on lifestyle management of diabetes and prediabetes.

The events will cover diabetes and prediabetes basics such as carbohydrate counting, meal planning, fat sodium and fiber information and other lifestyle factors.

If diabetes is not well managed, it can cause significant health issues including kidney disease, eye disease, heart disease, poor immune function, increased risk of stroke and more. Simple steps that can be taken to limit risk and promote a long and healthy life will be the focal point of Dining with Diabetes.

The event will be offered in the Steamboat Springs office on Tuesdays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., August 19 through September 9. This class is designed for those diagnosed with diabetes or prediabetes, as well as caregivers and family members of someone who has been diagnosed with one of these conditions.

The series costs $50 per person, with scholarships and family discounts available. Registration is required. To enroll, visit http://www.tinyurl.com/routt-dwd.
