Colorado Sen. Dylan Roberts announced his campaign for re-election to represent Senate District 8 Wednesday, continuing his stances on “making life more affordable for Coloradans and advocating for the unique needs of the mountain and rural communities he knows and serves,” states a news release from Roberts.
“In an age of immense political division and turmoil at the federal level, it is up to the states to govern responsibly, lower costs for hardworking people and families, and put results over politics,” said Roberts in a statement. “In my first three years in the State Senate, I am proud of the work I’ve done with my constituents to advocate for the unique needs, challenges and opportunities that face our rural and mountain communities.”
Roberts, who was born and raised in Routt County and lives in Frisco with his family, was elected to the state senate in 2023.
With a focus on affordability, Roberts “championed legislation to ease cost-of-living pressures” in the region and “directed resources and policy changes that have resulted in the construction of more attainable housing” during his first term, states the news release.
Roberts’ affordable housing initiatives include the communities of Avon, Craig, Eagle, Edwards, Fraser, Frisco, Granby, Hayden, Idaho Springs, Rangely, Steamboat Springs and more, according to the release.
His bills also seek to “reduce health insurance and prescription drug costs,” as well as create incentives for people to “make a living, start a family, start a business and retire,” continues the news release.
“We’ve expanded opportunities for affordable home ownership, protected our water and public lands, increased support for rural economic development, made our highways safer, and supported public education,” Roberts continued in a statement. “But, there is still so much more to do to make Colorado a better, more affordable and safer place to live. That’s why I’m running to continue doing this work for the people of Senate District 8.”
