In partnership with United Way of the Yampa Valley, and with oversight of a grant committee chosen specifically to oversee the response to the Lee and Elk fires, the Yampa Valley Community Foundation has activated the Yampa Valley Disaster Recovery Fund

“The Fund was established to meet immediate and long-term relief and recovery needs for people and places impacted by manmade or natural disasters, when monetary donations are the most helpful for organizations serving those in need,” according to a statement from YVCF.

The organization has issued an “urgent call” for volunteers to assist in Rio Blanco County to support should the group be called upon to provide assistance amid the rapid growth of the Lee and Elk wildland fires, according to a statement, which added it is “in the process of gathering names of those willing to volunteer when we are called for help.”

“This is not a hard commitment, but a willingness to be available. At this time, we do not have specific details as to dates, times or needs. The intent of this list is to have a group of individuals at the ready, when we do receive more information,” according to the statement.
