Red Flag Warning and Fire Weather Watch issued for Routt and Moffat counties
The National Weather Service announced a Red Flag Warning in addition to a Fire Weather Watch for Routt and Moffat counties around 2 p.m. Tuesday.
The Red Flag Warning will be in effect until 8 p.m. Wednesday. According to the weather service, “gusty winds, low relative humidity and dry fuels,” are expected until at least Wednesday night.
The weather service’s report expects southwest winds from five to 15 mph, and up to 30 mph. The report also states that the current humidity is around 10-15%
The Fire Weather Watch will extend through Friday evening at 10 p.m. The report warns that “any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly.”
Routt County residents are encouraged to subscribe to the Routt County Emergency Alert System, which informs residents of emergencies and incidents as they happen.
