Preview: Stagecoach Mountain Ranch, 2026 budget approval among discussion topics for Tuesday City Council meeting
The Steamboat Springs City Council will meet this Tuesday, Oct 21. at 5 p.m. in the Citizens’ Meeting Room at Centennial Hall to discuss Stagecoach Mountain Ranch and approve the 2026 budget, among other key agenda items.
Councilors gave comments at last week’s meeting, set to be formalized in a letter to Routt County on Tuesday, on Stagecoach Mountain Ranch, a significant 6,100-acre project outside city limits set to be developed by Discovery Land Company.
On Friday, Discovery Land Company sent an email to councilors, accompanied by a 14-page memo, responding to concerns raised at the Oct. 14 meeting, which will be addressed on Tuesday, according to Councilor Amy Dickson.
City Council will also do a second ordinance reading of the 2026 budget — an important step in approving funding, including potential service reductions, for the upcoming year. In light of a projected 1% decline in sales tax revenue for 2026, council has tentatively decided to dip into reserves to minimize service cuts, but will make their final decision on Tuesday.
Additionally, council will vote on a resolution to adopt the Steamboat Springs Historic Preservation Plan. They will also vote on a resolution to adopt the new Steamboat Springs Community Plan, approved unanimously by the Planning Commission on Oct. 9.
General public comment on items not on Tuesday’s agenda can be made at 6 p.m or after the city manager’s report, whichever is sooner.
