The Steamboat Springs boys cross country team is in the mix at the start of the Moffat County Invitational Saturday at Loudy-Simpson Park. Sailor boys placed fifth as a group in the event. The course was reworked from previous years to exclude Loudy-Simpson's southern hill. "I'm super-glad they got rid of the hill," said Steamboat senior Sonny Santino. "It felt like a really fast course this year, up there with Liberty Bell and Grand Junction. There were a couple corners and turns where I almost rolled my ankle, so it was tough."

Soroco runner Nick Clark heads for the finish line in the home stretch of Saturday’s Moffat County Invite. Clark placed second in the boys race and shaved one second off his previous best to clock in at 16:18.71. “I went out very conservative. I didn’t just go out straight, I stuck with the first-place guy (from Basalt) for about a mile-and-a-half,” Clark said. “I like to race with faster kids like that so I have someone to chase.”
