The owners of The Boat Yard will launch a new community farmers market June 28 on Yampa Street with hopes of providing new opportunities for vendors, and offering those looking for one-of-a-kind creations a new place to shop.

“We are really excited to offer this new community market in Steamboat Springs, and hope that it is received,” said Morgan Kurz, The Boat Yard manager. “We’re thrilled to offer another opportunity to smaller local vendors who want to get their stuff out there.”

The Boat Yard community farmers market will be located at 831 Yampa Street and will be open from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays and Sundays starting next weekend.

Kurz said the opening weekend will feature NuYu Coffee, which makes functional mushroom coffee; Seam of Life, which is a handmade, organic clothing line and Magicolor Maria Design which makes handmade jewelry, wooden and clay polymer jewelry and small batch one of kind jewelry. La Finca kitchen, which does locally made foods like organic jams, organic marmalade and preserves, will be at the market on Sunday.

Zapped by Steve, which features permanent jewelry is also expected to be a part of the lineup as well as Hayden Fresh Farm, which is slated to come on Sundays.

Rory Clow, Creative Director at Western Centers, said the company is transitioning the space from a food truck court to a farmers market to expand opportunities for local vendors.

“We kind of saw a need for additional vendors in town and decided to make an organic transition from food trucks to filling that need for vendors,” Clow said. “The (Main Street Steamboat) Farmers Market in town is just a beloved thing that everyone wants to participate in, and of course, there’s limits on how many vendors, how many hours they can offer.

“So we kind of heard the call that there are still a lot of vendors, especially smaller local vendors in Steamboat that are looking for a place … and we wanted to make sure that those vendors had the opportunity to sell. We see our operations as enhancing and expanding on the current farmers market.”

The Boat Yard community farmers market features shaded pergolas, along with additionial space where vendors can set up tents. There is also electricity and other utilities available, and Kurz said they are still looking for additional vendors for the 2025 summer season. Interested vendors can find applications on the Boat Yard website at TheBoatYardSteamboat.com.

“We have eight shaded pergolas,” Kurz said. “They’re 10′- by-10′ and we are offering them to vendors who want a shaded space, and for those who don’t want to set up a tent … Then we have additional space where vendors can set up tents or pull in a food truck.”

Located on the banks of the Yampa River near Ninth street the location features a grass lawn where tents can be set up and a black top entrance that could be used by food vendors.

“We’re super excited about The Boat Yard’s farmers market,” said Andrew Evans, whose business NuYu Coffee is based in the towns of Steamboat Springs and Roswell, Georgia. “Mostly, to really get to know the culture of the local community, especially if we’re going to make Steamboat Springs our home base. I’m personally going to be out there myself (that weekend), and my biggest goal is to really connect with the community, get to know the people and understand what they want.”
