Olivia’s moving to Steamboat’s west side where owners will carry on 30 years tradition of offering customers best selections, great service
After nearly 30 years in business and a decade at its current location, owners Olivia and Denny Kimmeth are moving the retail space of Olivia’s Home Furnishings and Interior Design to 2670 Copper Ridge Circle.
“So it’s right behind Elk River Farm and Feed,” Olivia Kimmeth said Thursday. We started the west of town, moved to this location 10 years ago and now we’re going to move back to the west of town because our warehouse is larger, and it holds more inventory.”
She said the move will make her operations more efficient because it consolidates her warehouse space with the retail space. Together the space occupies about 4,000 square-feet of space. She said the space west of town is also about a third of the rent she is currently paying.
“We have been operating out of two locations, so our designers and myself go back and forth constantly,” Kimmeth said. “It’s an hour between the traffic and going there and showing something and getting back to the store. We are very excited about the new location and being in one spot.”
Kimmeth said she has completely gutted the space and designed it with new lighting, tile and wood walls. She is currently moving into the space and is inviting the public to the new space from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the day after Thanksgiving for a Black Friday event.
“It’s really cute and it’s really a nice showroom,” Kimmeth said. “We’re going to have a huge Black Friday sale with champagne and hors d’oeuvre from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Black Friday.”
Olivia’s offers a curated selection of furniture, fabric, lighting and accessories of the finest quality and exceptional style. Kimmeth said during that time Olivia’s has been a source for distinctive and well-crafted furniture, lighting and artwork, and she said she plans to carry on that tradition in the new location. She said 100 % of her upholstery is American made and comes out of North Carolina.
“Our design businesses are more, more than half of our total business,” Kimmeth said. “We do homes from the ground up, which we have five of those right now coming out of the ground as well as lots of remodels.”
Olivia’s works with five different subcontractors and has a staff that is on hand at the store every day to help customers who walk in looking for help.
The longtime Steamboat Springs business will be celebrating 30 years of serving the community on November of 2025, and said she has no plans of stopping anytime soon.
“I’m not closing. I just renovated the warehouse, and I’m definitely not retiring — I’m not ready yet,” Kimmeth said. “We appreciate Steamboat so much, and the biggest thing I’ve always said is to please try to shop Steamboat. We’ve got everything here and we’re all competitive with what they can do in Denver or anywhere else. We try to be competitive with our prices, and it’s just a good thing to shop here, because if something goes wrong, we’re all here to take care of it.”
