Warren Maurer, 80, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, went to Paradise to be with the Lord on August 13, 2025. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, on September 23, 1944, to Rachel Kidd Maurer and Jack Maurer. Warren loved the Lord and was loved by many, and he will be greatly missed. He was quite a character, with a funny and quirky personality, and made many lifelong friends.
Warren and his wife, Betty, first came to the Yampa Valley in 1971. He was a hard-working painter and wallpaper hanger, and worked on many condos as they were being built at the base of Mt. Werner. Eventually, he painted many houses and businesses throughout the valley, starting his own company, Indian Paintbrush, in 1988.
In his younger days, he enjoyed four-wheeling, camping, fishing, and hunting. Puttering around his workshop was his favorite pastime in later years.
Warren was preceded in death by his unborn child in 1977. He is survived by Betty, his wife of 58 years, and his son Joshua, both of Hayden. Also, his brother John (Louise) of Tuttle, OK, his sister Sue (Bill) of Yuma, AZ, long-time family friends the Guires of Hayden, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 10:00 am, Thursday, August 28 at the Central Baptist Church in Hayden, CO.
