Eric Thoning, born and raised in Denver, passed away in Denver, March 26, 2025. Eric, fondly known as “News,” had a lifelong passion for staying informed. Whether it was the morning paper, evening news, or magazines, he loved following current events and sharing the latest updates with others—earning him his well-loved nickname. A devoted skier, Eric found deep joy and adventure on the slopes of Steamboat Springs, which became his second home and source of inspiration for decades. He was also a true animal lover, cherishing the loyal companionship of many feline and canine friends throughout his life. Eric is survived by his siblings—Sonya (Marcus), Lori (Jay), and Kirk (Ellen) and his niece, four nephews, and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rick and Ruth.
