June 12, 1952 – March 15, 2025

Donna Lufkin Vineyard, 72, passed away March 15, 2025, in Longmont, CO after battling pneumonia. She passed away peacefully in the care of Hospice at Peak Care Center with her daughter by her side.
Donna was born in Steamboat Springs, CO on June 12, 1952, to Don and Sally Lufkin. She was raised on the family ranch in the Yampa Valley east of Steamboat off HWY 40. In her younger years she participated in 4-H, enjoyed a good drag race down Main Street and helped on the family ranch. She graduated from Steamboat Springs High School in 1970. In 1971, she married her high school sweetheart, Alfonso “Ponch” Jimenez. They had a son together, Nicholas John born in 1972. They later divorced and she married Leonard Vineyard in 1974. Leonard and Donna had one daughter, Katy Jolene, born in 1976. In 1978, Donna and Leonard moved onto the Lufkin Family Ranch. Leonard and Donna were active participants in the Cattlemen’s Association and supported their son Nick as he showed steers, and participated in shooting sports in 4-H. Donna worked at Shop-N-Hop until she moved to Dayton, Wyoming in 1994. There she received her real estate license and began selling real estate for ERA Carroll Realty in Sheridan, WY. While living in Dayton, WY she enjoyed helping with Dayton Days, putting together baskets for Thanksgiving and Christmas, being a part of Drum and Bugle Corps, and helping out her neighbors any way she could. In 2013, she moved to Salida, CO to be closer to her daughter and her daughter’s family. While there she volunteered at Heart of the Rockies Medical Center, worked for Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center, and spent time watching her granddaughters ride horses. In 2019, she sold her place in Salida and split her time between Dayton, WY, and Havasu, AZ. She did this until she moved to Melody Independent Living in Colorado Springs in October 2022. She loved the independent living lifestyle. She enjoyed the friendships, the food, and the social life. In early 2025, after falling ill she moved in with her daughter Katy in Firestone, CO. Donna will always be remembered for her kindness towards others, her love for travel, her loyalty to friends, the joy she found being around horses, her strong work ethic, and her love for her grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Donald C. Lufkin and Eleanor “Sally” Willis Lufkin, her sisters Patty Brunner Childs (Earl) and Vikki Lufkin Franz (Kent), her brother, Billy Wayne Brunner. She is survived by her children Nicholas Vineyard (Katrina) of Florida and Katy Vineyard of Firestone, CO, and her grandchildren Tyler Camigi, Hunter McGill, Emma Post, Ally Post, Dominick Vineyard, Aily Vineyard, and Zyriah Vineyard, and her past spouses Alfonso Jimenez, and Leonard Vineyard.
A celebration of life will be held at the Mesa School House on US Hwy 40 in Steamboat Springs, CO on September 13th, at 2:00pm.
