Obituary: Barbara Bradley-Rutz

June 10, 1949 – December 1, 2023

Barbara Bradley-Rutz has taken the next steps on her journey. She passed on unexpectedly on December 1st, 2023 in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Barbara was born in Zurich, Switzerland on June 10th, 1949 to Father, Karl Rutz and Mother, Dora Meyer. Barbara grew up in the hills of Switzerland with her siblings Felix, Fredi and Franziska. She was an avid traveler and saw much of the world. She met her former husband Jeb while traveling in Nepal and together they raised four children at their home in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. Passionate about nourishing food, Barbara owned and operated Evergrain Natural Foods in Wolfeboro. She was a creative soul and an accomplished artist. She went on to open her own studio, Azure Rising Gallery, in Wolfeboro as well.
In 2015 Barbara moved to Steamboat Springs to be closer to her sons and grandchildren where she gave and received much peace, love and joy. During her time in Steamboat, Barbara continued her work as an artist. One of her current projects that brought her great joy was creating illustrations for a children’s book. Barbara found connection within the community, she volunteered with The Yampa River Botanic Park, Casey’s Pond Senior Living Community and was a cherished member of the Buddhist Center of Steamboat. She had an incredible way of being; always present, always positive. She touched everyone that she had interactions with and always found the best in people. She was incredibly generous and would go out of her way to help those in need, whether they were friends, family or strangers. She had a spiritual connection with Mother Earth and carried the belief that death was not a punishment, that it is a moving on and part of the journey of life. She will be seen in the rivers, felt in the wind and grow in the trees that surround us. She will be remembered, missed and loved by her siblings, friends and four children Jan (Jules), Ramona, Urs (Amy), and Bashi (Amanda) as well as her four grandchildren Amelia, Felix, Noah and Harper.
There will be a memorial service to honor Barbara on December 16th at the Heart of Steamboat Methodist Church at 2pm. In Lieu of flowers or gifts donations can be made to The Buddhist Center of Steamboat Springs, they will be helping with the memorial and flower arrangements.
