Katharine Elaine Rinker

Katharine Elaine Rinker was born to Henry and Margaret Shank on April 22, 1918 in Lily Park in western Moffat County. Katharine, a lifelong Moffat County resident, died November 20, 2013 at her home in Lily Park. She was 95 years old. On October 24, 1942, she married George Rinker, who had worked as ranch hand for her father. She taught at several rural schools in the area, including Artesia and Hell’s Canyon. Katharine also spent most of her life helping run the family ranch. She enjoyed working in her garden and orchard. Katharine was preceded in death by her parents; husband George; siblings Kenneth Shank, Florence Hoover, Leila Shank, John Shank, Nancy Flanagan, Daniel Shank, and Mary Shank; and grandson Curt Gluesing. She is survived by children Kenneth (Janet), Sam (Cynthia), Margaret Gluesing (Twan – deceased), Dan (Emma), Nancy Dunsmuir (Steve – deceased), Lynda Cozzens (Adam), and Paul “George”; 19 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. Services will be held on December 8th at 3pm at the First Congregational Church in Craig, CO, 630 Green St.
