Oak Creek nears decision on next police chief
The town of Oak Creek is nearing a decision on its next police chief after hosting public and board meetings with the two finalists over the weekend.
Residents met candidates Jeffrey Mason and David Beyer during a community meet-and-greet Friday afternoon at Franciosi Brothers Pizza in Oak Creek. Of eight applications received, officials narrowed the pool to three finalists before one withdrew, leaving Mason and Beyer as the two contenders.
On Saturday, the Oak Creek Board of Trustees held a special meeting to interview both finalists as part of the final stage in the selection process. A decision is expected within the week.
The new police chief will report to Town Administrator Louis Fineberg and oversee all police operations, including patrol, investigations and records.
Oak Creek has been seeking a new chief since the resignation of former Chief Ralph Maher in early 2024, following an investigation into his alleged conduct at an all-male entertainment show at a local bar.
