Tyler and Megan Knott of Oak Creek have been selected as part of the 2024 class of America’s Best Young Farmers and Ranchers.
Sponsored by DTN and Progressive Farmer Magazine, the program is meant to honor the next generation of farmers and ranchers.
Recognized for their work under Trout Creek Meats, the Knotts have made advances on their family ranch, Knott Land and Livestock. Trout Creek Meats is owned and operated by Tyler and Megan, with Tyler being the fourth generation to run the ranch with their children not far behind.
The family produces large markets of lamb and beef products that are well-known throughout the Yampa Valley.
The family’s commitment to sustainable grazing and land conservation allowed them to complete three conservation easements in 2011, 2018 and 2023, helping to conserve the ranch in perpetuity with the Colorado Cattleman’s Agricultural Land Trust.
Entering its 14th year, the award takes pride in honoring farming individuals who continually revolutionize agricultural advancements both in business and in the farming fields.
Every year, DTN and Progressive Farmer selects five new honorees to be named, making Tyler and Megan some of 70 past farmers and ranchers to join the winner’s circle. The family was recognized on Nov. 16 at an awards ceremony in Austin, Texas during a multi-media production honoring the 2024 winners.
