North Routt Community Charter School parts ways with Head of School Dan Kohler following internal review
The North Routt Community Charter School Board has announced that Head of School Dan Kohler is no longer employed effective immediately, according to a statement released by NRCCS Board President Kim Smith on Thursday morning.
“After an internal comprehensive review, the board concluded that leadership change was in the best interest of the school and its community,” wrote the board in its statement. “NRCCS remains steadfast in its commitment to provide an exceptional educational environment grounded in respect, safety and excellence.”
“The board is now focused on supporting faculty and students during this transition and on identifying leadership that reflects the school’s core values,” the board added.
The board also sent an email to NRCCS families on Tuesday evening announcing the change.
“The board has been working diligently and thoughtfully to address the situations that have arisen and to ensure that our school continues to operate with integrity, transparency and care,” wrote the board in the email. “We understand that change can bring uncertainty, but it also brings the opportunity to reaffirm who we are and what we stand for.”
A community meeting was scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Thursday for families and community members, which is “standard protocol for communication if a change in management occurs,” according to Smith.
The board will convene for a regular meeting Monday, Nov. 10 at 4:30 p.m.
