Mountain Tap, Routt County Riders collaborate on springtime brew

The Mountain Tap Brewery, in collaboration with Routt County Riders, will release a new springtime beer, Prickly Pedal, on Friday.

According to a press release from the brewery, the beer is concocted with cactus fruit — a nod to the desert-recreation season forthcoming as Colorado ski resorts begin to close operations for the season.

The brewery will hold a tapping party Friday with members of Routt County Riders on hand to provide cycling, trail and membership information to those interested.

Patrons can get a glass of the Prickly Pedal on draft or pick up a six-pack to go.

Routt County Riders is a group that advocates for positive change for all types of cyclists in northwest Colorado by working toward trail diversity and road infrastructure improvements throughout the Yampa Valley, according to their website.

The Friday event at Mountain Tap Brewery will also feature live music from Randy Kelley and Jon Gibbs from 6-8 p.m.

Limited edition Prickly Pedal shirts, hats and stickers will be on sale, and Mountain Tap Brewery will donate $1 to Routt County Riders from every pint of the new beer sold.
