March coming in like a lamb: Springlike temps, sunny skies on tap for weekend before storms hit next week

Sunny skies and springlike temperatures are on tap for Steamboat Springs for the approaching weekend as the calendar flips from February to March.
“Gorgeous springlike weather with clear skies and warming temperatures are forecast through Saturday, with the warm temperatures remaining on Sunday even if we see some clouds from a passing storm to our south,” wrote local meteorologist Mike Weissbluth, who posts twice-weekly weather reports to SnowAlarm.com. “Cooler and wetter weather returns for the start of the following workweek.”
“It’ll feel like spring on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and then two storms will deliver snow next week,” wrote Joel Gratz, founding meteorologist at OpenSnow.com. “The first storm should be around Monday to Wednesday, and the second storm should be around Wednesday to Friday. It is still a little early to lock in the timing or snow amounts of each storm, though a blend of forecast models shows snowfall reaching double digits, so soft snow and powder are likely next week.”
The National Weather Service is predicting a high temperature of 50 degrees on Saturday before snow showers return to the forecast beginning late-night Sunday.
