Lupita McClanahan, a Dine’ or Navajo elder, will present a community talk titled “Hozho/The Beauty Way: Walking in Beauty through Difficult Times,” at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 11 at Library Hall.

Her talk will focus on “the beauty way,” a “practice grounded in connecting to Mother Earth and Father Sky so that everything that one does in their life is done with the intention of creating beauty,” according to Literary Sojourn Festival Director Jennie Lay, in a news release.

McClanahan hails from Canyon De Chelly, Arizona, and has used her experiences in indigenous boarding schools as a way to understand the modern world and build bridges between cultures. Prior to the boarding schools she was raised by elders in their traditional way.

She invites those interested to join her as she talks about her life, relationship with the land, relationships with one another and a path forward together.
