Longtime local Chris Dover has been announced as the new information technology manager for the city of Steamboat Springs, stepping into the role after serving as interim manager for the past two months, according to a statement released Monday.
Dover has worked in the city’s IT department for more than eight years, holding positions focused on cybersecurity and information systems.
In his new position, he will report to Deputy City Manager Kelly Romero-Heaney and will lead a team of nine responsible for maintaining secure, reliable and innovative technology services for the city.
“Chris has been instrumental in strengthening our systems, improving cybersecurity and modernizing the city’s IT infrastructure,” said Romero-Heaney in the statement. “We’re excited to have him step into this leadership role, where he can continue to explore new ideas and security protocols for the benefit of the entire organization.”
Dover’s track record includes cost-saving projects, enhanced cybersecurity measures, infrastructure upgrades and citywide cyber awareness training. Outside his work for the city, he has also applied his IT skills to the Yampa Valley Electric Association and Cement Performance International.
A Georgia Tech graduate with a bachelor’s degree in business management, Dover holds professional certifications including CISSP and CompTIA Security+.
“I’m honored to take on this role and continue serving the city,” said Dover in the statement. “My goal is to ensure our technology supports the people who live, work, and visit here by keeping systems secure, services accessible, and operations running smoothly.”
