LiftUp of Routt County has announced the launch of a $5 million capital campaign to expand its Steamboat Springs facility, supporting growing demand for its services throughout the county.

The organization provides two food banks, emergency financial support programs for medical, housing, utility and other needs, caseworkers who help people move from crises to stability, a thrift store frequented by the entire community, scholarships and more.

“Over the past decade, demand for LiftUp’s programs has surged 67%,” states a news release from the organization. “Due to limited space, the Food Bank can only accommodate seven clients at a time. Staff frequently shuffle offices to accommodate for the need of confidential meeting areas.”

“The donation center faces similar space constraints, often overflowing beyond its capacity and limiting the amount of products that can make their way to the thrift store. The Thrift Store also needs additional space to display donated goods and provide more high-quality, affordable shopping for our community,” the release continues.

After receiving a $2.5 million grant, the organization is now halfway to meeting its goal. As of Aug. 21, LiftUp was designated under the Enterprise Zone Colorado tax credit program, allowing individuals and businesses to receive significant tax credits for donations of $250 or more to the capital campaign, general operations and certain programs.

To continue to work toward its $5 million goal, LiftUp is hosting a free concert at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Snow Bowl, with a $20 donation suggested. The concert will feature JR Adams’ new band, Mr. Junior, and four community guest artists.
