Letter to the editor: ‘Put up or shut up’
Letter to the editor

It seems like the city council has kicked the housing can down the road again. I moved here four years ago to live with my daughter and son in-law. We were fortunate enough to buy a house and land outside the city. My wife and I built a secondary dwelling unit and the other family got the original house.
By doing this, they have a house to raise a young family and without could very well be another statistic in the housing crisis. We can meet, discuss and surmise but that isn’t getting it done. Routt County wants an ultra rich ski development for the rich and famous.
Will this help our shortage of housing for new couples or single workers? I doubt it. I am not from here and probably will be dismissed as an out of state know it all but back home we build something called sub-divisions that people can buy houses in and have what everyone wants: A place to call their own.
They live in Hayden, Craig, Phippsburg, Yampa and beyond. As things get more expensive will they keep coming to work here or move somewhere else.
There is a shortage of workers of all kinds because I have worked in an industry that requires them. This area is going down a one way street with no real answers to the big problem.
There is a saying, ‘put up or shut up’, but you had better do something quick.
