The annual Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off event for residents in Routt County is set for 8 a.m.-noon Oct. 4 in the parking lot between Strawberry Park Elementary School and Steamboat Springs Middle School on Amethyst Drive.
This community event offers Routt County residents an opportunity to safely dispose of common household hazardous materials such as paints, solvents, automotive fluids, pesticides and other chemicals. Proper disposal helps protect local water, land and air quality.
Some items can be dropped off for free, but other items have a minimal proper disposal fee. The event is sponsored by the Routt County Department of Environmental Health, and a list of accepted items and drop-off fees can be found online at CO.routt.co.us/FAQ.aspx?QID=146.
