Four recent high school graduates in the Yampa Valley have been named recipients of 2025 UCHealth Yampa Valley Medical Center Medical Staff Scholarships to pursue education toward working in the health care field.

The scholarships are funded by the physicians and providers who are employed by and affiliated with the medical center.

Steamboat Springs High School graduate Jake Davidoff will attend Indiana University to major in kinesiology and pursue a career in physical therapy or sports medicine.

“I’ve witnessed how health care professionals collaborate to create personalized physical and emotional recovery for people when they are vulnerable and struggling,” Davidoff said. “This unique experience has only strengthened my desire to pursue a health care career.”

SSHS graduate Ellie Mitchell will attend the University of Oregon where she plans to major in biology with a minor in health sciences and pursue a career in pediatric oncology.

“As I took classes to further explore medical careers like taking med prep, my wilderness first aid responder certification or my certified nurse’s assistant certification, I began to fall more in love with every single part of health care,” Mitchell said.

SSHS graduate Kaitlin Stuble will attend the University of Hawaii at Manoa and plans to major in and pursue a career in nursing.

“I understand working in the ER, hopefully as an ER nurse, will bring extremely tough moments and times of doubt, but I want to be a helpful light in people’s life, in any way I possibly can,” Stuble said.

Scholarship winner Danaka Miller graduated from Moffat County High School and will attend the University of Northern Colorado to major in nursing and pursue a career in nursing or emergency medicine.
