The Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation provided an update Friday for the resort’s on-mountain maintenance projects and impacts on trail closures from that work for the week of July 25 to Aug. 1.

Ongoing and scheduled maintenance projects may cause detours and delays on hiking, mountain biking and multi-use trails during the week, along with at least one road closure, according to a news statement sent Friday by Maren Franciosi, senior manager of communications for the Steamboat Resort.

The resort is asking trail users of all-types to utilize the resort’s app and Steamboat.com for the most up to date information on any closure announcements.

This week, work at the resort is expected to include a “haul rope splice project on the Sunshine Lift” that will close Sunshine Trail July 28-29, according to the news release. Additionally, logging work will continue in the Mahogany Ridge area. That work began July 21 and is expected to cause periodic trail closures to the Pioneer Trail.

“Helicopter operations will begin on July 28 to haul out logs and will close Pioneer, Creekside, Zig Zag & Tenderfoot connector trails, Yoo Hoo Road and Thunderhead hiking trails beginning at 6:00 a.m.,” the resort’s news release noted of the logging work.

As part of that work, logging truck traffic will begin July 28. The trucking will create temporary closures on Why Not Road, the resort said Friday.

“Thank you for your patience while our teams complete this work. Please respect all signage and closures,” added the news statement from the resort.
