Nonprofit Old Town Hot Springs in downtown Steamboat Springs will offer two free health seminars next week to discuss falls prevention and staying strong and steady.

The seminar, “Staying Up on Falls,” presented in conjunction with UCHealth, is set for 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.  Monday at OTHS. The class is an interactive discussion on fall prevention geared toward citizens 65 and older who have fallen or worry about falling.

The free wellness seminar “Strong and Steady” is set for 6 p.m. Wednesday. Trainer Reall Regan will share practical mindset and resiliency tools to help navigate mental and physical health changes.

In addition, the next six-week series, “Women’s Self Defense,” starts March 23 at OTHS. Rooted in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the program focuses on empowering women with practical skills to protect themselves, build confidence and enhance their personal safety.

The program features offensive techniques such as distance management, wrist releases and various escape methods as well as defensive techniques such as shirt choke. The classes run 6:30-7:30 p.m. Mondays, March 23 to April 27, at a cost of $80 for OTHS members and $95 for guests.
